Anyone who has given birth to a child during the COVID years understands how isolating it can be, even if you have already have a well-established group of well-meaning childless friends, and family members who gave birth—but light years ago.
Good mums and bubs groups are hard to find, and during a pandemic when you’ve got bigger concerns like social distancing, isolating whether you should be vaccinated or not, and should you vaccinate your children, it can help to find like-minded mamas.
Motherhood is a life-changing experience and with each developmental stage, it can help if you can connect with other mums who share your struggles. Whether it be trying to get your child to eat, to how to cope when you’re sleep deprived, Social Mama app provides a place to safe, all-inclusive place.
Before giving birth to her first child, entrepreneurial mum, Elisha Fiorentino sought the support of other mums just like her. The lack of resources on the Gold Coast was lacking, so she started a community called Social Mama to see if there was a demand for a lifestyle app for mamas.
The Social Mama app was launched on 18 November 2022. Not only does it create a much-needed platform to connect you with new mamas, it allows you to attend both local meet-ups and virtual events such as exercise classes, information sessions, playgroups, baby first aid courses.
Some of the features of the app include:
- Find events near you.
- Register events.
- Invite your friends
- Create profiles so you can connect with other mums in business or like-minded mothers.
Motherhood can feel like an alien experience the first time around, All Social Mama Community programs and meet-ups are designed to support new mums from birth up to 12 months postpartum, but all mums are welcome.
Here’s what one of the mums had to say about the new social mama app
”The Social Mama community is extremely inclusive and supportive. Elisha creates great events for everyone from fitness to socialising to education. It is a great space for mummas to get out and about and enjoy parenthood whilst making new friends for both Mumma and Bub! I have come to value our weekly gatherings and it has been a delight watching my baby girl making friends. So if you’re wanting to meet new people for yourself and your child come along and enjoy!” – Cassie Gibb
